The original house of 1000 sf was expanded on the main level by use of cantilevers to take advantage of bay and city views. No new foundations were installed as a cost control measure. The cantilevers and extended roof line allow for whimsical curved shapes. Large overhangs protect the large glass areas to the north while, smaller, less protected openings occur on the south and provide strategic glimpses from the interior. Lots of glass at the entry provides a soft transition between the interior and the front “outdoor living room”.
